Our association has one primary purpose to teach the game of soccer in a manner that is enjoyable and rewarding to the player and coach. The goal of our coaches should be to foster a spirit of friendship, while teaching the game and maintaining an attitude of fair play, self-control, discipline and sportsmanship. In order to achieve this we follow the principles and definitions of Recreational Soccer as outlined below:

United States Youth Soccer Definition
(16) “Recreational League”
means an interclub league in which:
A.   The use of tryouts, invitations, recruiting, or any similar process to roster players to any team on the basis of talent or ability is prohibited:
B.    The club administering the league accepts as participants in the league any eligible youths (subject to reasonable terms on registration):
C.    A system of rostering players is used to establish a fair or balanced distribution of playing talent among all teams participating; and
D.   League rules require that each player must play at least one-half of each game except for reasons of injury, illness or discipline.

Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Definition
Recreational League:
An intra-club league in which use of try-outs, invitations, recruiting or any like process to roster players selectively to any team on the basis of talent or ability is prohibited. Accepts any and all youths (subject to reasonable terms of registration); system of rostering players is employed for the purpose of creating a fair or balanced distribution of playing teams.

COACHING EDUCATION

In order to properly develop our youth to play soccer; it is necessary to educate all head coaches with the basic fundamentals as they apply to the game of soccer. As prescribed by our bylaws; our Director of Coaches must develop a coaching plan all. All unlicensed head coaches of Under 12 age groups and up will attend a sanctioned license-coaching course. Coaches of younger age groups will attend age group specfic training.

Playing Time:

Each player is to play one half of the minutes of each game, unless there is a disciplinary problem. If you think that your child is not getting his or her playing time, please speak to your coach about it. You will get the best results by calling the coach at home, not by accosting him or her at the bench. Coaches may use their discretion in reducing playing time for players that do not attend practice and for disciplinary reasons. Remember to treat the coaches with respect. Coaches volunteer their time and try to do what is best for the team. If, however, you feel there are problems you cannot work out with the coach, please contact Denise Stauffer at dstauffer@westpascofc.com.
